OK, turns out I was missing some dependencies such as bridge-utils,
iproute, libatm1, libconfig-inifiles-perl, libexpect-perl,
libio-pty-perl, libio-stty-perl, libterm-readline-gnu-perl,
libterm-size-perl, rinse, screen, vnstat, xfsprogs (which xen-tools
install on debian). 

I can now boot an unstable hypervisor + tools, and from that dom0 (under
2.6.18-6-xen from debian, as the provided kernel hangs in my machine
both in dom0 and domU, with no kernel panic - just stays still) boot
domU and access via console. Unfortunately I still didn't get it to
work; while following the example provided in the web, I get the example
disk image to boot with debian kernel and the provided sample-vm.img.
But, if unmodified, it crashes with:

The checkpoint errors are reasonable, as I run the debian xen kernel and
not the mtyrel one. I think the run script doesn't find gcc, by the
way. 

If I remove the runscript line I can get that domain to boot from within
ptlsim (both the stable and the snapshot versions, linked against the
unstable xen headers as the unstable tools are what is installed in my
system), but trying to run ptlctl by hand there I only get:

Which doesn't make that much sense, being that ptlsim hypervisor is
being executed. 

I've also tried creating a new domU and compiling everything inside,
both with stable and unstable sources, with the same result ("not
running under PTLsim hypervisor"). 


¿Any ideas? I'd be very grateful for them, as I've been banging my head
against this for some time now ;).
